Action 1: Get your SBA PPP Application Submitted

This is a great opportunity for most small businesses. It caused a ton of management distraction last week. Get the app done, submitted, and move back to business!

  • If you haven’t yet, GET IT DONE.
  • Find out if your bank is accepting applications.
  • Don’t wait for the bank past Tuesday, get in the queue at another bank.
  • Don’t apply in two places!
  • A lot of guidance has been given; takes away a lot of the gray area from last week.
  • If you have submitted, ensure you have a data room
  • Banks are asking for common items as well as some unique ones.
  • Make sure you have all the documents used to build your “payroll costs” number and headcount number for the application in a data room.



Action 2: Communicate with your Team & Customers

Now, more than ever, you should be bringing your team and your customers along in your journey. Be proactive, be open & transparent. No one is untouched by this crisis.

  • The steps you are taking
  • What you are hearing from the market
  • Possible opportunities & risks
  • Get them to Engage:
  • Celebrate the wins
  • Articulate the risks & how you are mitigating them

Set cadence & communicate regularly. Make it a conversation, not a one-time broadcast. 



Action 3: Focus on Short-term Cash Flow Planning

Build your 13-week cash flow planning framework. Always remember cash is king.

  • Build your tool (or use ours)
  • Know your Cash Flow
  • What’s coming in?
  • What’s going out?
  • What key vendors take priority?
  • What accounts receivable needs pressure?
  • Cadence
  • Set a weekly cadence: update it every Monday morning
